The Return of Emma

We were delighted to have Emma visit us for a week again this summer. We filled the week with plenty of memorable activities, returning to favorites from last summer and trying some new. We attended the Event at Rebecca Farm which is an internationally recognized equestrian competition. We saw Olympic athletes compete and were right up next to the action. We could hear the riders talking to their horses and could see every pole that was knocked down. It was a blazing hot day, but we enjoyed this new experience. We took the chair lift up Big Mountain this year and got some great photos of wildflowers and the view as we rode back down the mountain. We rode the alpine slide and painted pottery and fused glass in Whitefish. We visited the local art museum and had quite scholarly discussions about the featured artist, John Fery--a man hired in the early 1900s by the railroad to paint Glacier Park to attract tourists. We are celebrating the centennial of Glacier Park this year, and we enjoyed the beautiful images of the park's past. Emma baked delicious biscuits for us for breakfast, and we made homemade pizza. Emma went swimming with a new friend and enjoyed music in the park and Baskin Robbins ice cream. It was a fabulous week, but we miss our Emma now that she has gone home and look forward to another visit.
