Two Days in Kalispell

We flew into a beautiful blue sky with tips of mountains all around. It was a gloriously sunny day, and we were speculating about what lake we must be seeing in the distance until we realized that it was cloud cover so thick that it looked like a frozen lake. Kalispell is not known for its sunny winters, but this was particularly impenetrable cloud cover. Suddenly, as if we had hit something solid, we went from sunny blue skies to pea soup. We could not see a thing until moments before landing. Thanks to our skilled pilots, it was a smooth landing, and we were home--for two days! We had a whirl wind of 48 hours in Kalispell. Our dear friends Steve and Ted made time for us even though it was right during their finals week. Sarah was so generous in housing us and putting aside her studies for several hours so that we could catch up. I spent time at Flathead High connecting with my friends there and making plans for our return. I am thrilled that Flathead will be sending me to New Mexico in July for more IB training!! TJ did hours of homework. We ate at Mackenzie River Pizza (where we had our first date!), had a riotous Chinese dinner with friends (Steve and Sarah never fail to keep us in stitches), and spent a little quality time at my favorite coffee shop in the entire world! Just before we left town, we met Richie, John, and Cristy at Colter Coffee on Main Street (pictured) where they have the best chai tea I have ever tasted. I made it a point to go in a few times while we were in Kalispell. They still remember what I always order even though we have been in Michigan for six months. Talk about a hometown coffee shop! This photo was taken as we were driving toward Seeley/Swan on our way to Helena. It was beautiful even in grey tones! How we miss our good friends in Kalispell. We are so excited to be coming home in August!
